Equilibrium Reflexology

Equilibrium = Balanced State of Well-being and Harmony

What is Reflexology?

The ancient roots of Reflexology can be traced back thousands of years to the Egyptian times. It is a touch-based, complementary therapy working on the ancient theory that specific reflex points on the feet, hands, face, and ears correlate with specific organs and systems of the body. Applying targeted pressure and techniques to the corresponding points stimulates sensory nerve endings, improving blood circulation, and encouraging the release of tension and blocked energy. This offers many health benefits, promoting well-being, invoking deep relaxation, and bringing the body into balance for optimal health, healing, and well-being - equilibrium.

As a qualified Level 5 Reflexology Practitioner, I practice the 'Duopody' technique, treating both feet simultaneously, applying a whole, balanced, holistic approach to each bodily system. This level of qualification falls within the sector ‘Nursing and Subjects and Vocations Allied to Medicine’ consequently your experience and the quality of the treatment you receive will be reflective of this high standard.

Reflexology embodies more than just the physical touch; it symbolises a holistic journey towards healing, self-discovery, and overall well-being, creating harmony in both body and mind. Periods of relaxation allow the body the opportunity to heal, repair and restore.

So, whether you are seeking support for a specific health condition, overwhelmed with the stresses of daily life, or simply looking to invest in some beneficial 'Me' time, Reflexology is the perfect holistic solution.

About

Hello, I'm Amanda,

My passion for Reflexology stems from the profound personal benefits I've experienced from regular treatments throughout my adult life.

Having found myself at a crossroads in life, I decided it was time to reclaim some balance, invest in my well-being, and pursue my long-standing passion to study Reflexology.

As a practitioner, I witness its benefits in promoting relaxation, enhancing sleep quality, balancing hormones, releasing tension, uplifting mood, improving circulation, supporting the immune system, and more specific medical issues.

I embarked on a transformative journey at Wye Reflexology Academy, where I earned the highest accredited reflexology qualification in the UK, a Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology.

I have studied anatomy and physiology, understanding the body's interconnected systems, NEPIP (NeuroEndoPsychoImmunePody) for stress management, Menopause, Maternity and palliative care whilst incorporating energy concepts providing a holistic approach to health. I practice 'Duopody Reflexology' – treating both feet simultaneously, ensuring each system is treated as a whole, helping the body return to its natural equilibrium.

In addition to my personal journey, I am a fully insured, proud member of the Association of Reflexologists, a professional network dedicated to maintaining high standards in reflexology practice, allowing me to stay informed about industry best practices and my passion for continued learning.

As a Neal's Yard Consultant, I use Neal’s Yard Remedies, organically produced using ethically sourced ingredients.

I am also extremely proud and honoured to be associated with the Joy Of You foundation (JOY). Please head over to sdcosmetics.co.uk to find out more about the wonderful stories of compassion, restoration and hope.

So, if you're seeking a holistic approach to well-being uniquely tailored to your specific needs, I'm here to guide you.

Let's embark on your journey to wellness together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at my reflexology treatment?

The treatment will take place in a private, welcoming treatment cabin situated at the rear of my garden in Whitstable amidst peace and nature.

At your first visit, a full health and lifestyle questionnaire is completed, establishing current health concerns, evaluating stress levels and your expectations of the treatment - this will form the basis for a bespoke treatment tailored to your requirements.

Please allow 90 minutes for the first visit; all subsequent treatments will last for 60 minutes.

Once on the treatment couch, you will be asked to adopt a comfortable and appropriate position, supported by a pillow, blanket and a bolster if required. After gently cleansing your feet, I will apply a beautiful Neals Yard organic balm and invite you to relax.

During the treatment, I will note any physical/emotional responses. I work intuitively and will adapt the treatment appropriately where necessary. Once completed, and you have been provided with a refreshing drink of water, we will have the opportunity to discuss any findings, recommendations for aftercare and frequency of further treatments, covering any questions you may have.

After Care advice

Each individual's response to treatment is unique. It is not uncommon for your body to respond to the healing process. Some of the more common responses can present as feelings of emotion, relaxed, uplifted, mild headache or frequent urination as your body eliminates toxins – all responses are positive indicators that your body is adjusting to the effects of the treatment.

In the 24 hours following the treatment it is important to drink plenty of water to aid the detoxification process and avoiding stimulants such as tea and coffee. To get the full benefit from the treatment, I recommend a suitable rest period to allow the body to self-heal and for you to savour the treatment.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of reflexology sessions needed can vary depending on the individual's health and lifestyle goals and their response to the treatment. The first treatment will always include a consultation, during which we will discuss your expectations. Initially, regular treatments are advisable to allow for self-healing, which can often be seen within 4 to 6 sessions. Regular maintenance treatments can support well-being.

Does Reflexology diagnose medical conditions?

Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose, or treat specific conditions. Therefore, it should not be used as an alternative to conventional medicine. However, treatment responses may identify body organs or systems indicating the need for rebalance and focus. Time is made at the end of the treatment to discuss any such responses.
